Sustainability Programs

Performance's Sustainability Solutions Division has a broad range of programs to aid property owners and managers as they work to make their properties more environmentally friendly and energy efficient.

Energy Star Benchmarking

Performance is proud to be identified as a Partner in the Energy Star program. Energy Star is sponsored by the US Departments of Environmental Protection and Energy to promote energy efficiency. The EPA’s national energy performance rating system provides a 1-100 scale that helps organizations assess how efficiently their buildings use energy relative to similar buildings nationwide. A building that scores a rating of 75 or higher is eligible for the ENERGY STAR.

On May 8th, 2009 the Governor of Washington signed into law SB 5854, The "Energy First" bill. Among the provisions of the bill are requirements for owners of non-residential buildings to obtain and disclose the buildings Energy Star benchmark score.

We have the tools to survey your building and calculate their current rating and establish a benchmark value. As energy-saving improvements and methods are implemented, the rating can then be re-calculated and compared to the benchmark for an accurate gauge of how effective the improvements were at improving the facility’s energy use profiled

Building Retro-commissioning

Retro-commissioning is the process of optimizing the existing HVAC system components you have in your building. We work through a systematic unit-by-unit process to ensure that each piece of equipment is performing to both the building's and manufacturer’s design specifications. We can also look to add new components to control the building differently. Depending on your actual needs, we can blend the two together. We can optimize what you have installed, and install new components to make the building perform to its optimum level.

While some companies will advertise anticipated savings in terms of a percentage or payback period, we realize that every building and situation is unique. We prefer to take a systematic engineered approach to get to "real" numbers. We will visit your site, perform a detailed survey, and come up with energy saving strategies and a budget estimate. We then work with the utility to procure available funding. This becomes part of the overall proposal for you to consider. If approved, we will implement the energy saving measures and manage the entire project on a turnkey basis. Call for more information.
